Where Was God? Where Was God When I Went Through These Terrible Things?

Where was God? Have you ever thought that? Have you ever thought "Where was God when this horrible thing happened to me?"? I would like to share something with you about that. When you read the book of Genesis in the Bible, you will see that Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers and he was taken to Egypt. Joseph was also falsely accused of raping Potiphar's wife while he was a slave to Potiphar, and he was taken to prison. While Joseph was in prison, he interpreted dreams that came true for the baker and cup bearer. When Pharaoh had a dream and could find no one to interpret the dream, the cup bearer mentioned Joseph and Pharaoh called Joseph and interpreted Pharaoh's dream. After that, Joseph was placed second in command over all Egypt, and later on, a famine hit all the surrounding areas, and food was plentiful in Egypt. Had Joseph not been sold to slavery and put in prison, Israel would have starved off and not survived the famine. God was with Joseph the whole time.

If you read the book of Job in the Bible, you will see that Job would not curse God and he was blessed. Satan came to God asking permission to take away all of Job's blessings to see if Job would curse God if he did so. God allowed Satan to do that and Job did not curse God. Then Satan came to God to get permission to afflict Job with all kinds of horrible diseases and sores, and God gave him permission to do that, but yet Job did not curse God. Job's faith was tested, and found to be pure. God was with Job during this trial, and in the end, Job was blessed much more than he was in the beginning. Job was also healed and lived long after the trials. God was there the whole time.

Consider Jesus who has suffered the most horrible suffering any human can suffer then He died on a cross. He was beaten to a point where He could not be recognized as a human, and he was mocked, spit on, and then nailed to a cross and was left there to die. Had Jesus not done this, none of us could be forgiven for our sins. We would have no hope, and we would all be destined to hell. There would be no healing for us and no forgiveness. Because Jesus did this, we can be in heaven when we die if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, and accept the sacrifice He made for us. We now can live a life of hope. We are forgiven, and we can be healed because of Him. Jesus was also risen from the dead 3 days later so that we can spend eternity with Him in heaven. We all now have hope because of the horrible suffering Jesus went through.

Rom 8:28-30
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
NKJV

I was also abused by my grandparents for a time in my life, and was picked on by kids in school for a majority of my school years and wondered "Where was God when that happened?". I would have never been able to encourage others through their trials had that not happened to me. I would have never opened my page to bring healing to others had that not happened to me. God was with me the whole time.

Conclusion:
God was with you during the horrible events of your life. God had compassion on you and God loves you. If you trust God, he can also use the evil things that happened to you and cause good things to happen as a result of that. He may use you some day to make a big difference in someone's live or in multiple lives - which would have never happened had you not gone through the horrible things you have gone through. God can cause you to do great things. God has never forsaken you. God carried you through the horrible things you went through. God will make you a great person if you trust Him to do so. Remember this:

Heb 13:5
For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
NKJV

God promises to never leave you nor forsake you.

God bless you, and remember God loves you and has always loved you,
